Angels with Bagpipes is not only one of the best Scottish restaurants in Edinburgh, it also reflects many of the city’s most defining features. For example, just like its Old Town home, Angels with Bagpipes has plenty of unexpected nooks and crannies.

Beautiful, atmospheric

With French windows opening out onto Roxburgh’s Court steps, the atmospheric Dining Room is at the airy heart of Angels with Bagpipes. Lit with eye-catching, winged angel candlesticks, it is a buzzy, comfortable space in which to enjoy some of the finest Scottish food in Edinburgh.

For more private occasions, the beautiful Halo room almost seems to floats above Roxburgh’s Close. A cosy, magical space, subtly decorated with Scottish emblems, it feels discreetly separate from the rest of the diners. It fits four people snugly but is ideal for two and its romantic intimacy means it has been the setting for several marriage proposals.

If you are in the mood for a cup of coffee, a light lunch or a chat over a glass of wine, then nestle into the cushions under the hanging copper globe lights in the Bar. Situated at the front of the restaurant, it has floor to ceiling doors which make it the perfect place to soak up the always entertaining street life on the Royal Mile.

Alternatively, quietly tucked away from the bustle of the High Street, the Courtyard is a leafy spot for an al fresco meal or a drink on a warm summer’s evening.

Lit by old lanterns, it is a typical Old Town hidden treasure.

Leading on to the Courtyard, the Chanters Room is ideal for a private dinner, a product launch or a big family celebration.

Whatever you want, from a quick espresso to a lingering dinner for two, Angels with Bagpipes is one of the best bar restaurants in Edinburgh.
